The Engineer job classification series is part of a career ladder structure offering advancement of job responsibilities, as well as pay.
Performs engineering oversight of moderately complex Industrial and Hazardous Waste (IHW), Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), Underground Injection Control (UIC), Uranium, and Radioactive Materials License (RML) facilities and/or Superfund sites; provides technical review of regulatory submittals including moderately complex applications, permits, plans, and reports; interacts with industry, the public, and other governmental entities; and interprets regulations and policies. Provides engineering expertise regarding moderately complex permitting, licensing issues, and remediation. Prepares, reviews and/or evaluates moderately complex plans, reports, permit and license applications, certifications, work orders, invoices and notices of waste management activities and correspondence to ensure compliance with applicable rules and regulations. Communicates with internal staff, the public, contractors, and other governmental agencies. Represents the agency at public meetings and public hearings for assigned projects. Interprets state and federal statutes and regulations applicable to the IHW, MSW, UIC, Uranium, RML, and/or Superfund programs. Updates databases and maintains accurate, organized, and complete records of reviews and project files. Performs special projects; actively mentors other staff; and provides professional development assistance to non-licensed graduate engineers.
Minimum Qualifications: Texas Professional Engineer's license.
Moving up to 40 pounds of permit application materials.
Traveling up to 10% of the time.
Wearing personal protection equipment (Tyvek, boots, gloves, respirator, and SCBA).
The agency will review the applicant's driving history in connection with the use of a vehicle in the performance of the job.
Condition of Employment:
TCEQ will verify Selective Service registration for males born on or after January 1,1960.
If exempt from Selective Service registration selected candidate must provide proof of exemption on first day of employment.
Offers of employment are contingent on the candidate having legal authorization to work for the TCEQ.
