The Department of Mining and Materials Engineering at McGill University invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Mining Engineering at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. The expected appointment start date is August 1, 2018 or earlier as circumstances permit. The salary will be commensurate with experience.
Applications are invited in the general area of advanced sustainable mining systems. In particular, qualified candidates working in one or more of the following areas are strongly encouraged to apply. These are: mine waste management, mining automation & robotics, and rock fragmentation. Excellent candidates with research activities and interests in other advanced mining engineering areas may also be considered.
The Department is home to two programs – Mining Engineering and Materials Engineering. Mining is housed in the ADAMS Building, and has excellent facilities with strong activities in several research areas; see Annual Report at: http://www.mcgill.ca/minmat/. Candidates must have a Ph.D., preferably with a first degree in mining engineering or a related field such as civil, environmental, or mechanical. Evidence of outstanding research achievements, or research potential as evidenced by publication in leading journals in the field, is indispensable. Preferred qualifications include dedication to an environment that supports diversity of population and perspectives. Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association is required.
