Lecturer in Biomedical Engineering

The Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (bme.umich.edu), a joint department between the College of Engineering and the Medical School, is seeking to fill a full time lecturer position. We seek applications from individuals in all areas of biomedical engineering that will contribute to our educational mission. We are particularly interested in applicants who can: i) instruct in one or more core biomedical engineering classes, particularly at the 200-level, ii) develop and implement experiential modules in BME laboratory classes, and iii) contribute broadly to the teaching and educational mission of the Department. The specific courses taught will depend on expertise and interest. Teaching load is expected to be 4-5 courses per academic year. Candidates with demonstrated experience in teaching and pedagogical methods are preferred.

Required Qualifications: PhD in engineering, biological or physical sciences, or a BS/MS degree with 3-5 years of relevant industry experience. Desired Qualifications: Demonstrated commitment to teaching and education. A strong motivation to improve the educational experience and engage students in experiential learning. We are especially interested in candidates who can contribute, through their teaching and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.
