TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Plans, organizes, and directs major bridge and structural engineering projects;
Manages and administers the City's annual bridge program;
Makes technical decisions in preparing complex bridge and structural engineering analysis and design items;
Plans, designs, and prepares cost estimates and schedules for specific bridge and structural engineering projects including determining scope of work, application of appropriate standards, materials specifications, and construction techniques;
Assists in preparation of the annual budget and assures fiscal control of the approved budget for the bridge and structural engineering unit;
Provides management and supervision of professional, technical and administrative staff, and supervisory personnel;
Provides technical and administrative support for Federal, State and City funded transportation projects;
Conducts field investigations to determine the reasons and responsibility for structural failures;
Consults with engineers, architects, and contractors on a variety of structural engineering issues.
Master's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering AND two (2) years experience as a engineer supervising major bridge and structural design projects two (2) of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity;
Professional Engineer's license AND three (3) years experience as a engineer supervising major bridge and structural design projects two (2) of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity;
