Overview / Responsibilities Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking an IDOT/Illinois Tollway experienced Documentation Technician/Inspector for transportation infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities Read and comprehend construction drawings, special provisions, standard specifications, standard drawing and other referenced documentation Observed construction activities for conformance to contract documents Document how daily construction activities are in conformance to the contract documents Identify nonconforming construction activities and follow the client’s nonconfroming work procedures Measure and compute daily construction quantities in accordance with the client’s method of measurement and payment Review and check daily quantity reports Enter quantity reports into Fieldsys or ICORS and or quantity book as required by the project Enter material certifications into ICORS and or quantity book as required by the project Prepare and process pay estimates, change authorizations, change orders and extra work orders Maintain project logs and record drawings Maintain project documentation for closeout requirements
Skills / Qualifications Preferred candidate will have a Bachelor of Science in an engineering related field of study; Illinois PE is a plus, or relevant certification/experience 7+ years of IDOT/Tollway/Municipal or other transportation related Phase III Engineering documentation technician/inspection experience Ability to apply analytical or scientific thinking to define and solve problems and be able to execute field and office tasks Understanding of basic engineering principles Demonstrated problem-solving ability IDOT certified in the documentation of contract quantities Ability to work both in a team environment and independently Self-starter with strong math, oral and written communications skills Proactive individual who takes ownership of their work Must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft suite of software. Proficient in the use of Fieldsys, ICORS, and web based project management systems Experienced in IDOT/Tollway/Municipal material certification procedures Ability to learn new technologies and software Ability and willingness to travel to and work at construction sites Ability to walk on uneven ground and work in variable outside conditions Ability to work various shifts depending upon construction schedules Experience in material quality assurance is a plus Survey experience with total station or GPS systems is a plus Must pass drug test, have a valid driver’s license, and have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company’s driving MVR policy If you believe you have the necessary knowledge, experience and enthusiasm to succeed in this position, then we would like to hear from you.
