Tectonic is currently seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with building structures experience to work within our Newburgh, NY Office.
Essential functions of this position include the performance of structural investigations, analysis, and design of structural systems for various types of buildings and materials using applicable building codes, and providing technical support to structural engineers and drafters to ensure the accurate and timely completion of projects. Other functions include supporting the design and construction of complex building projects, and performing analyses on projects of varying complexity using hand calculations, analysis software, and other accepted methods. The Senior Structural Engineer will also assist in generating, reviewing, and approving required materials, including drawings, documents, calculations, engineering reports, cost estimates, and client communications, and perform site investigations for existing building conditions and data collection, as well as all other related duties as required.
Valid Professional Engineering license, with the ability to obtain a PE in New York within a reasonable period of time;
5 years of related experience, with a minimum of 2 years of demonstrated experience in building design and analysis;
BS Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent is required; MS Degree in Civil Engineering a plus;
Demonstrated focus on accuracy and attention to detail;
Knowledge of AutoCAD 2014 required; knowledge of RISA is strongly preferred;
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly describe observations and convey information with sketches and technical writing;
Ability to interact effectively with clients, contractors, project teams, and colleagues;
A valid, clean driver’s license, as travel to job sites (including sites in the NYC metro area) is required.
