ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF PRACTICE POSITION IN CIVIL & ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT CLEVELAND STATE UNIVERSITY
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cleveland State University invites applicants for Assistant Professor of Practice position in the area of civil engineering. The position will begin on August 19, 2019. The position may be renewed annually per Cleveland State University policy. Applicants are expected to teach undergraduate civil engineering courses, including but not limited to surveying, surveying lab, senior design, construction planning/principles, statics, strength of materials and strength of materials laboratory, introduction to engineering design as well as general civil engineering courses.
As a minimum, applicants must possess (1) Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and Masters degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field; (2) ten years non-academic professional engineering experience (a doctorate degree in engineering will count 5 years toward professional experience); and (3) professional engineer registration (in U.S.).
Preferred qualifications include (1) an earned Doctorate degree in Engineering with specialization in Civil Engineering or closely related fields, (2) ability to teach surveying, surveying lab, construction planning/principles, senior design, statics, strength of materials and strength of materials laboratory, undergraduate civil engineering courses, graduate level Civil Engineering courses; (3) excellent communications skills; and (4) the ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
