We have an immediate opening for a Civil Designer to become a part of our civil engineering design team. Ideal candidates should have a degree or computer related certification and minimum of ten years of experience as a Civil Designer with experience in site/commercial design projects. Experience with Civil 3D is required.

Responsibilities/Expectations: Plotting and assembling construction plans; Using established CAD standards to prepare electronic drawings from marked-up plans and/or verbal instruction by engineers/designers; Organizing and scheduling work to accomplish goals on projects within established budgets and timelines; commercial site hydrology and hydraulics; drainage reports; water model and water & sewer basis of design reports; and coordination with engineers and other design team members.

Under general supervision, prepares drawings of new construction or existing facilities of moderate complexity based on verbal instructions, sketches, and/or formal documents.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obtains basic civil data from documents and field measurements.
Prepares or assist in the preparation of civil engineering documents, details, schedules and reports.
Compiles specifications and contract documents from existing sources for assigned projects.
Set-up a standard civil drawing set (for different corporate clients) and provide the working set ready to be used for design.
Set-up vertical and horizontal grids to display storm drain piping, manholes, storm drains per civil design standards.
Utilizes state-of-the-art CAD equipment and technology; maintains current knowledge of CAD technology principles and applications.
Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in engineering and two years of progressively responsible related experience; or any combination of education, training and experience which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.
Computer expertise with estimating systems, scheduling and spreadsheets.
Demonstrated leadership and teamwork roles.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Fundamental understanding of civil engineering drawings.
Ability to identify and correct abnormalities in the files to facilitate a problem free drawing.
Ability to read and understand civil redline markups with minimal direction.
Knowledge and understanding of stationing and profiles.
Ability to interpret typical civil drawings. Ability to differentiate between curb, gutter, sidewalk, pavement, concrete, grade breaks, ridge lines, etc. Sound understanding of basic design and design parameters of a grading and drainage plan, utility plan and civil details.
Skill in the use of AutoCAD equipment and software.
Knowledge of contract documents and specifications.
Time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
Ability to work effectively with clients, agencies and other design professional.
Position requires: a) Preparing site plans and other drawings for construction projects; b) performing inspections of existing facilities to determine and verify structural detail; c) utilizing CAD equipment and technology; and d) Certificate of Competency in Civil AutoCAD Drafting.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Work may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises.
Some driving with personal vehicle may be required. Mileage will be reimbursed.
