As part of our Transportation team, the Civil/Traffic Project Engineer MOT Lead will possess a broad skill set that includes either highway/roadway design or stage construction/traffic handling Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) design, or experience in performing design work for both of these discipline areas. This position is a leadership role in directing engineering support staff in the development of roadway and/or MOT plans for state highway improvement plans.
The Civil/Traffic Project Engineer MOT Lead will be a member of our Transportation/Public Works Group in our Ontario, CA office. You should have an interest in applying a combination of highway and traffic design expertise and knowledge to develop roadway and MOT plans for the safe travel of vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians in both a temporary and permanent condition.
Lead support staff and prepare design plans for roadway, traffic handling, stage construction, and detours
Prepare construction documents, specifications, and cost estimates
Perform occasional field investigations
Write and prepare supporting reports
Provide direct support to project managers and work with various levels of staff to accomplish tasks successfully
Responsible for monitoring and performance in accordance with task budgets and schedules
Professionally represent Michael Baker International at technical meetings with agency staff, clients, and contractors
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required
15 or more years of progressive highway/traffic engineering design experience is required
Proficient computer skills in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD is required
Experience with InRoads/Civil 3D is preferred
Proficiency with the Microsoft Suite of tools is required
Ability to both manage and prioritize project assignments to meet competing deadlines as well as work independently and within a team setting to support project delivery is required
Availability to occasionally travel to other local offices may be required
Possession of a CA PE or on a track to obtain a CA PE license within 1 year is required
Be a motivated self-starter who displays a passion for solving problems, interacting in a team environment, and meeting established deadlines is required
Excellent English language skills, written and verbal is required
