About the Job:
This position combines volunteer engagement, market analysis, sales, product development, budgeting, forecasting, and relationship management skills to lead and drive TAPPI's volunteer engine for assigned member groups (Divisions, Committees, Local Sections, etc.), Conferences, and development of other products (as identified and/or assigned). In addition this position:
Supports new product/service development pipeline
Provide project management/leadership/interface between TAPPI departments and volunteers for assigned products
Ensure/oversee volunteer/member experience
Project Leader for assigned events
Understand current marketplace audiences, needs, & trends
The Tissue Division Manager (TDM) is accountable for the relationship with assigned member groups, understanding the markets assigned members groups serve and will also support in the ideation, coordination and production of various TAPPI products & services (events, publications, standards, training, membership, and potential new products). The TDM will have the team lead and overall P&L accountability for assigned events related to assigned member groups. This is done through the various TAPPI departments (meeting planning, speaker management, marketing, web team, etc) with the TDM’s primary personal focus on identifying and meeting the needs of the member groups. The TDM interfaces extensively with internal stakeholders and volunteers and should have the ability to provide top notch member service with a friendly proactive attitude backed by a high attention to detail. In short the TDM works to understand how TAPPI can leverage our most competitive asset, our volunteers, to:
Continuously Improve TAPPI's value proposition to the industry
Improve Member/member/volunteer experiences
Ensure assigned products/events are financially sustainable (or within budgeted goals)
Responsible for developing, cultivating, and nurturing member/volunteer relationships within assigned segment(s).
Responsible for developing strategies utilizing market intelligence gained from these and other industry relationships to leverage TAPPI’s existing product base and to develop its new product base.
Responsible for monitoring both strategic and operating results for areas with P&L responsibility.
Oversees the day-to-day needs and activities of the assigned member groups, in compliance with TAPPI operating and strategic plans and bylaws of the association, by providing operational and administrative support for the member groups as required.
Works with other key TAPPI department teams to create a successful team relationship with the member groups. The end result is the successful accomplishment of member group goals, objectives and highly-rated satisfaction of service provided.
Maintain assigned member group rosters and guidance manuals as well as facilitate and support TAPPI’s award processes.
Coordinate and/or provide guidance towards the marketing of assigned member group product’s with this assistance of TAPPI’s marketing team. This could include events, books, standards, webinars, committee membership, etc.
Resolves client complaints by investigating problems; developing solutions; preparing reports; making recommendations to TAPPI management and member group leaders.
Identify opportunities for new product/service development based on member needs in addition to selling TAPPI products when possible.
Provide members and nonmembers excellent member service, solicit feedback, encourage participation and ongoing (or new) membership in TAPPI.
Embrace a 100% member interface role with complete ownership and accountability for all assigned member group needs
Staff Liaison for assigned member group conference calls, committee meetings and on-site meetings during TAPPI events.
Ability to multitask and facilitate multiple projects simultaneously
Other duties as assigned
Skills and Knowledge:
The TDM must demonstrate proven experience in member service and a desire to build team based relationships with TAPPI volunteers. Industry experience is a plus but not required.

Demonstrated ability to perform as a self-starter and work independently.
Ability to identify opportunities for revenue generation and expense savings.
Understanding of volunteers and peer review processes
Strong written, oral and public presentation communication skills
Ability to think creatively and turn ideas into actionable items
High attention for detail and results oriented
Proficiency using technology (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, web-based tools, Social Media, etc.)
Ability to travel by ground or air (~20-30%)
