The Environmental Monitoring (EM) program is made up of two distinct sections, data collection and data analysis. The laboratory activities include environmental monitoring of ISO-classified areas, sampling of product, reading, recording and verifying results, data entry, writing and updating procedures as well as other tasks as required. This EM Supervisor position is responsible for the scheduling, sampling and collection of the EM samples and Utilities as described in the essential responsibilities. In addition, the EM supervisor helps with audit responses reports for Actions, Alerts, Incidents and is responsible for keeping management informed of potential problems associated with the monitored systems. Additional tasks include reviewing and comparing published guidelines, and USP revisions to the EM program keeping abreast of EM industry trends, and providing supervision to a team of EM technicians and Specialist. Essential responsibilities are to:
Support Manufacturing Areas for EM relate task.
Effectively Schedule EM samples collection for ISO 5, 6, 7 and 8.
Effectively Schedule Utility samples for Compressed Gases and Waters.
Schedule, Conduct and/or train EM personnel on the EM SOPs and processes.
Review data collection documentation for accuracy and compliance with SOPs.
Serve as a backup for all lab personnel (water testing, particle monitoring, EM monitoring, HEPA testing, etc.)
Review and/or prepare SOPs and EM protocols as needed.
Establish objectives and conduct performance reviews with direct report personnel
Effectively manage personnel and conflicts within the EM laboratory
Conduct investigations related to EM data excursions and provide the written assessments as needed for Action/Alert Investigations and Incidents.
Monitor EM regulatory agency changes, guidance documents and USP revisions and recommend necessary changes
Notify management of possible problems with ISO-classified areas, WFI system, and other areas related to EM.
Other task may be assigned base on management needs.
BS in Microbiology, or Biology with an emphasis in Microbiology, with a minimum of 2 years related experience –OR- 5 years of related experience in lieu of degree.
Lead experience required and Supervisory experience desired.
Minimum of 2 years Pharmaceutical experience required.
Laboratory experience required.
Two years of experience in aseptic processing, environmental monitoring, cGMP and microbiological techniques required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Microsoft PowerPoint desired.
Ability to manage conflict and influence outcome desired.
Physical Requirements: 20/30 corrected near-point vision. Must be able to work in aseptic areas, exposure to Allergens and prolonged sitting/standing. Minimal travel required.
