This newly created position oversees the Engineering Department and is responsible for performing complex and professional engineering work for environmental, water, sewer, street, drainage, and other capital improvement projects and programs to ensure technical competence and compliance with all current codes and criteria. Additional job duties include: the preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for, as well as supervising the design and construction of public improvements; conducts final inspection and acceptance of public improvements associated with development projects; reviews, approves, and coordinates inspections for public infrastructure and private construction improvements; and designs, prepares bid specifications, and monitors bidding process on City public works projects. The position reports to the City Administrator.
The ideal candidate is an experienced, talented professional with a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field, a valid driver’s license (ID license by hire date), and a licensed Professional Engineer in Idaho. Five (5) years of managerial experience in the public works field, or any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is required. The successful candidate should possess excellent communications skills and be able to work collaboratively with others.
