The Senior Director is a critical leadership role that oversees development of the Company’s engineering services capabilities, as well as its drafting and design services team. This includes working with the Company’s President and VP of Business Development to execute growth strategies and overseeing Engineering (to include design and drafting) roject plans & specifications, construction documentation, and inspection services. This position will provide the Company President with overisight of a growing business unit. The Director will oversee an organization comprised of managers, engineers, technicians, and inspectors to deliver a balanced engineered solution to both external and internal clients. Must have ability to manage mulit-site operations, multiple projects and resources simultaneously, define good quality control measures, and be responsible for each project's technical aspects.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
The Director will have direct responsibility for managers, engineers, technicians, surveyors and inspectors.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide operating leadership to the Engineering department working on multiple projects.
Develop and strengthen relationships with our customers and internal partners resulting in organic growth. Expand the business with new customers.
Establish engineering guidelines and processes to be managed and followed throughout the design and drafting team
Review, understand, and explain multiple telecom and power deployment technologies (FTTP, FTTN, HFC, CATV, Small Cell, etc), telecom terminology, and the various telecom infrastructure environments (aerial, buried, underground, wireless)
Communicate project and account status to senior management, customers, and other internal partners.
Establish partnerships and subcontracted services to augment and supplement the skills and volume output of the team where it makes logical, strategic, sense for growth.
Proactively identify potential project risk factors, communicate these with our external and internal partners, and work with team members to address and resolve them
Develop yearly, monthly, and project-based financial and productivity forecasts and measure success against forecast. Deploy solutions to ensure budgets and forecasts are met and changes to forecasts are communicated timely
Identify, procure, and implement productivity and automation tools to increase productivity, streamline processes, and improve overall performance and output of the team.
Education and Experience:
BS degree in Engineering required
Professional Engineer license required
Relevant (communications or utilities industry) Project Management, Construction Management or Engineering Experience strongly preferred.
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
GIS design experience preferred

Ability to lead and manage a geographically distributed workforce operating in a matrixed organization in support of internal and external customers
Strong financial acumen
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills including the ability to facilitate meetings, make effective presentations, and write proposals, as required
Able to work with minimum supervision in a matrix organization
Thorough understanding of utility industry practices, operations, contract administration, contract management and standards
Proficient in undersstanding and application of CAD software and Microsoft Office products
A strong demonstrated commitment to utility construction safety and quality is required
Knowledgeable in preparing and maintaining Project Plans
Proven ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
Ability to traverse in an office setting and construction job site
