We are seeking a hands-on Quality Assurance Engineer Manager to join and to lead our Quality team. This is an exciting new position due to growth and is ideal for an ambitious person wishing to help drive Senga’s product quality, on-time delivery, and manufacturing excellence. This is a multi-role position requiring a wide range of duties and skills and the successful candidate must have a balanced mix of experience in the areas of: managing and people skills, AS9100D/ISO9001 quality management system, advanced quality assurance technologies, and hands-on mechanical inspection experience.
PRINCIPAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Reporting to the COO, oversee the quality department’s daily machine shop inspection; first article, in-process, and final inspection of precision machined parts performed by the quality staff. Strategic sourcing, addition, and training of new technologies, equipment, and processes to improve the quality management system, cycle time, and part quality. Determine CNC equipment capability through SPC and six-sigma analysis to optimize CNC machine selection for jobs and verify a part manufacturing process is stable to ensure part conformity. Programming for Hexagon’s PC-DMIS CMMs, Keyence Vision Systems, and Optical RAM.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Work closely and communicate effectively with all functional areas at Senga to achieve product quality and production goals.
Supervise a team of inspectors; mentor and motivate them, direct their duties, train as needed, schedule their work hours, conduct routine departmental meetings, performance reviews
Ensure production and quality assurance team is following Senga’s AS9100D/ISO9001 quality management system.
Review part measurement data and scrap rates and determine process improvements for production and quality assurance departments. Develop and maintain a system by which to prevent defects.
Assist with inspecting parts in times of high demand.
Create Process Control Plans, quality operating procedures and work instructions that adhere to the company’s quality management system.
Calibration System Maintenance. Supervise the maintenance of tool and gage calibration and records.
CMM and Keyence Inspection fixture design using SolidWorks.
Support AS9100D/ISO9001 audits. Perform and write Internal Audit reports.
Communicate directly with customers about part quality requirements.
Corrective/Preventative Actions & Follow-Up. Lead root-cause analysis.
Supplier Evaluations/Monitoring.
Communicate with supplier quality engineers, buyers, and other customer contacts to clarify requirements, request deviations and support supplier onboarding process.
Work with Program Managers to evaluate customer requests and ensure Senga’s ability to produce the order to the desired quality level.
Work with Purchasing to develop and maintain a qualified supply base.
Work with COO to establish, implement, and maintain the quality management system.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical or Quality.
Experience
3 years’ experience as an inspector in a machining environment
2 years’ supervisory experience
2 years’ experience in Quality Engineering
Required Skills
Effective leadership, team building, and communication skills – speaking, writing, listening, presentation. Demonstrated proficiency in English.
Knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 standard and prior audit experience
Level 3 CMM/PC-DMIS proficiency.
Proficient use of inspection tools and equipment including precision measuring instruments, CMM, vision systems, surface plate and accessory equipment, comparators, etc.
Solid knowledge of drawing and GD&T ANSI Y14.5 specifications, assembly and fabrication procedures, shop practices, and assembly inspection procedures.
Excellent computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
Statistical process control planning, data collection, and analysis
Desired Skills
Certificate in Quality Management
HIGH QA software experience
ITAR experience
Working knowledge of statistical process control (SPC)
Demonstrated use of advanced statistical tools
Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt
Other
US Citizenship or Permanent Resident card required for Defense contracts
