EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Engineer III ($86,309 - $ 107,886) - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field, and at least three years of progressively responsible engineering experience in area of assignment, preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
Senior Engineer ($99,254 - $124,067) - Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or related field, and at least six years of progressively responsible engineering experience in area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
CORE COMPETENCIES & ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Provides engineering support including technical analysis, implementation, operation and maintenance of network applications (state estimator and real-time contingency analyzer), power system simulator, and department technical services. Develops and maintains the plans, processes, and procedures for producing regulatory documentation in order to ensure full compliance with applicable regulatory standards related to assigned area. Analyzes and assists in transmission system outage coordination. Leads medium to large projects with minimal guidance. Assists with training and provides engineering support to System Operators and System Operator Trainers. Acts as on-call engineer as assigned outside normal working hours. Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
Performs engineering studies and analyses related to power flow, contingency analysis, system stability, and outage coordination, and maintains the applications needed to perform these tasks.
Provides background information and documentation for management consideration on assigned projects and technical matters involving engineering theories, concepts and principles.
Serves as department liaison with internal customers, external entities, governmental agencies, other utilities, external auditors, vendors, etc.
Participates in external organization meetings such as SPP working groups, NATF groups, and state or local related working groups.
Monitors and interprets NERC related developments, provides comment and voting recommendations, and advises management of future changes to compliance requirements.
Develops and maintains the internal control processes for ensuring compliance with the applicable regulatory standards in the System Operations department.
